Your business may be printing documents which need to be preserved or protected and so you may be considering having these documents laminated. However, the process which many people think is lamination is often actually encapsulation and while they are similar, encapsulation is the more common.

Encapsulation is a permanent process of encasing a document in a thick plastic film. If the document you wish to preserve is one which you want to take out of its protective covering at a later date, then encapsulation is not how you should be preserving it for the time being as it is not reversible without damage to the original document.

The process of encapsulating a document allows you to strengthen and protect, making it a common process for posters and other display items. The document is completely enclosed in the thick plastic film, making encapsulation perfect for creating a sturdy menu at a family restaurant, or a list of tasting notes at a winery event.

Or maybe your business needs recipes and instructions for waitresses behind the counter of a cafe, or you are printing a quick reference list of your products or services for your customers to refer to and you need a sturdy document, impervious to moisture, time, touch and tearing; then consider having your documents encapsulated.

Unlike lamination, the encapsulation process does not require paper borders so pre-cropped originals are able to be encapsulated easily and with professional results. You are also able to choose the width of the border you would like, whether you want rounded or square corners, and you have a choice between glossy or matt finishes. Encapsulating your documents is just like completing any other print run, and so the process can be used on runs of several thousand documents.
