Digital Printing
When you need a printed document for your business, it is not always as easy as simply ringing up the printer and telling them what you need. This can be because you don’t know what it is that you need and you don’t know the best way to achieve the look you want for your project.
Well, your printer will be able to explain all of the options to you depending on the audience, the size and the style of your printing project, because there are so many different printing processes, colour options and finishes that you could never know them all unless you were a printer yourself.
One of the first decisions you will have to make it whether you want to use the digital printing process. Digital printing is where your print project is reproduced on paper, film, cloth or plastic. This may sound obvious, and when you think about it, digital printing is the same process which the printer sitting on your desk probably uses.
As with any business decision, you need to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of digital printing and we’re here to help you make that decision. In digital printing, the images and text are printed directly onto your paper, or the medium you have chosen. While this also may sound obvious, in conventional printing the images and text are transferred from plates, onto your paper.
However, in transferring directly onto the paper in digital printing, you may find that each impression and each copy of your document is slightly different. Also, the ink which is being printed does not absorb into the paper the same way it does in traditional printing methods, but instead forms a layer on the surface.
But despite this, digital printing may be perfect for your printing project as the process generally uses less chemicals and there is less waste paper produced in the set up process. This makes digital printing perfect for small print runs or rapid prototyping which may be just what your printing project needs.
